A life-long resident of South Carolina, Dr. Sloan received his magna cum laude Bachelor of Science in Biology and magna cum laude Bachelor of Arts in Government from Wofford College in Spartanburg. He earned his Doctorate of Medicine degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. Dr. Sloan performed his Internship in Internal Medicine at Johns Hopkins University's Sinai Hospital in Baltimore and his Residency in Ophthalmology at Sinai Hospital's Krieger Eye Institute. He then completed his Fellowship in Glaucoma at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.

Dr. Sloan brings a wealth of expertise to his patients, holding fellowships with the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery as well as the American Glaucoma Society, and is a proud member of the South Carolina Society of Ophthalmology and the South Carolina Medical Association.
