Satellite Laptops

Laptops that sit unused for days or weeks at a time are usually not happy campers when they are first turned back on. They can be slow to start. They may try to run virus scans, install Windows updates, and many other actions that prevent those computers from performing well until those activities have completed. Laptops that will be used at satellite offices should be fired up the day before and allowed to boot up, run all automatic updates, then manually rebooted. Once rebooted, if they seem to be running well, pack them back up for the next day and you’ll be far less likely to have issues when arriving off-site. If any laptops are not running well after reboot, leave them running, and submit tickets on those machines in plenty of time so I can log in and fix any issues. ~ Mayo
